"Joan Crawford meets the 1940 season in a sheer wool crepe in black with gold jewel highlights. The dress is one-piece with an all-over fullness effect. This is achieved in the sleeves by an almost dolman cut with the wide shoulders faintly gathered at the round neck. Belted in black kid, the shirt is a series of unpressed pleats. A twin set of jewels in twisted gold with jewel insets decorate the slit neckline of the dress. Miss Crawford completes her ensemble with a large muff of silver fox with trapper´s hat to match and as herald of Spring wears banded sandals in patent leather with open toes and heels."
