"When the sound pictures department of the Paramount studios in Hollywood asked for a short test of the singing voice of Baclanova, noted Russian actress, she saved time for her work on George Bancroft´s current starring picture The Wolf of Wall Street by obliging via the Dictaphone. Bancroft, who once was a star in musical comedy, not only played the accompaniment but lent a soft baritone to the melody. Baclanova was once a noted dramatic soprano of the Russian theater."
