The CD arrived a few days ago and has been playing continuously at A Certain Cinema’s headquarters. Who would have predicted that Paramount still housed acetates for a 1946 film noir scored by the incomparable Miklós Rózsa, or that they could be turned into such a rewarding listening experience. Credit producers Bruce Kimmel and Lukas Kendall for bringing another buried treasure to thrilling life. The Strange Love of Martha Ivers is a capital Rózsa opus. The CD (as of this writing there are still copies around) is an invaluable representation of it.
